Purpose of The Job
As a member of a small team, the job holder will assist in the production of timber products and ensure that they are manufactured to the specified quality and in keeping with volume production targets. The person will progress and complete a relevant training programme in line with the role.
The role will involve coordination with the Sawmill Supervisor in organizing workflow and ensuring that the team work safely, understand their duties or delegated tasks including monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching. Responsible for own safety and ensuring the safety of others in these busy operational environments. At times you will be required to stand in for the shift team leader taking on their responsibilities during periods of holiday or sickness.
Under supervision, you will monitor and take part in the production process, ensuring proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment. Conducting the relevant setups, adjustments and other settings as necessary to ensure precise measurements for cutting or shaping of material.
Ensure a good standard of housekeeping working alongside supervisor and maintience team to identify and perform machine maintenance as well as carrying out pre and post shift checks conducting minor repairs as required.
