To drive a range of vehicles within Waste Management Services and to complete a range of vehicle checks as required. To work as team leader ensuring the collection and removal of recyclables, household, industrial and commercial waste, including bulky items from various locations. Carry out street cleaning and skip emptying duties throughout the Borough. The post holder will also provide flexible and effective cover across a range of Council services delivered by the Waste Management Section.

Ensure that all responsibilities are carried out in timely effective manner and that general confidentiality is maintained in all issues relating to the work of the Council.

Directorate:  Initially, Environment, however, may be required to work in any Directorate across the Council
Department: Initially, Waste and Cleansing, however, may be required to work in any Department across the Council

Please note:

  • There are two types of positions available: Category C Driver and Category C Driver with roll on / roll off experience.  Please read questions carefully and answer those relevant to the position you wish to be conisdered for.
  • The hours of work will be on a set working pattern which will include weekdays, weekends, evenings and public holidays.  Please see attached Working Pattern for further details
  • A driving assessment will form part of the interview process.
  • A reserve list may be maintained for one year from which other similar Permanent / Temporary vacancies at the same grade on alternate working patterns may be filled.
